Safer Recruitment in Education Settings

Recommendation 17 from the Bichard Inquiry states that at least one member of any selection panel appointing a person to work in a school needs to have received appropriate training in Safer Recruitment. This includes catering, site management, office staff and any other teams in school. Are all personnel in your school involved in recruitment up to date with their training?

The Safer Recruitment Consortium launched the new Safer Recruitment training on 1st September 2014 and this material is regularly updated - we are registered partners with the Safer Recruitment Consortium. It is good practice for Headteachers, Principals and other interviewing colleagues to re-train every three years (advice from Safer Recruitment Consortium received January 2019).

With the update (September 2019) of the DfE Statutory Guidance for Schools and Colleges ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ it is vital for schools to ensure that they are fully compliant with training for Safer Recruitment. To book places follow the link:
