Through discussion participants will be involved in learning about the causes of ADHD and consider the impact that this disorder can have on those with the diagnosis. They will take part in some practical activities where they explore the use of solution focused techniques when working with individuals who have a diagnosis of ADHD. Participants will be given the opportunity to consider how some of the techniques can be used with the young people they are currently working with.

During the session participants will:

  • Outline what ADHD/ADD is and how it manifests itself
  • Consider what may cause ADHD/ADD
  • Discuss treatment
  • Discuss related disorders
  • Consider the outcome if the ADHD is not recognised and well manage
  • Introduce a solution-focused approach to solving problems related to ADH
  • Practise using solution-focused skills in a safe, supportive environment
  • Gain confidence in trying some of the skills in our work
