These two hour workshops are delivered by Specialist Nurses from the Macmillan Information Support Centre, will help participants to develop an understanding of how living with a family member with cancer impacts on children and their lives both in school and at home.
Workshop participants will explore how:
- To support children and their parents
- To recognise ‘red flags’
- To signpost to appropriate support
- To support the strategies and skills needed for difficult conversations
The workshops will involve a presentation with an overview of cancer and its impact for families. It will include:
- Top tips
- Real case stories
- Q&A session/discussion
Francesca Wreba-Jaworska and Friederike Englund, from the Macmillan Information Support Centre, have over 20 years’ experience as specialist nurses working within cancer and palliative care. They will be assisted by experienced oncology and bereavement counsellors working with adults and children.
